While there has been a lot of attention given to core project management skills, the role of the accountable business owners (project directors, project sponsors and similar titles) has not been given the attention it needs. This Masterclass will provide guidance to senior executives, to better focus on delivery of projects in changing times - being focussed on just enough of the key aspects of project methodology to keep things on track but not to get bogged down in too much process and governance at the expense of delivery and outcomes. It draws on both recent research following a series of interviews with senior project directors and project sponsors across projects as diverse as construction and business improvement, on what is needed for success and the combined practical and theoretical experience gained across over 100 projects managed by the facilitator.
This Masterclass will explore, in practical terms, what is expected of the senior executives and the role they play during the delivery process of any project. You will acquire the skill to design and recruit a high performing team, and understand the roles and accountabilities for sponsor, how to engage with political and organisational stakeholders, external providers and community and the critical role they play in project delivery.
