Overview
This two-day course targets the skills necessary for leading and interacting with staff as a supervisor. In an experiential training environment, it will take you through communication techniques, giving clear instructions, formulating plans, monitoring performance, motivation and support. The course has an emphasis on proven theory, and is based on many years of leadership development experience. Although targeted at the new or inexperienced leader, it will also appeal to those who were never taught the skills necessary to deal with that most complex of public sector assets - people.
Course Content
This course builds on leadership theory, using activities to address specific skills. The content includes: motivating to achieve a shared objective, formulating a plan, directing staff to perform a task (and monitoring progress), balancing the task, team and individual, dealing with difficult people, and performance management. This is everything you wish you'd known about people management before you started doing it.
