Principles of Good Practice
The Principles of Good Practice are IPAA Queensland’s flagship research. The Principles review poignant public sector issues and are designed to encourage debate and discussion in order to influence public practice. Both the practitioner and academic communities are involved in developing each Principle and the Principles apply across a variety of fields.
Each Principle of Good Practice comes as a full document, for those who like to fully understand a topic and to ponder the issues, and an associated Fact Sheet, for those who like the main points at a glance.
POGP 1 – Codes of Values and Ethics
The public sector is set apart by its value set – and this is a large part of why people choose the sector for employment. This Principle addresses how we can embed these values within organisations. Of particular importance, is how the values demonstrated by the leadership of an organisation influence the overall culture.

POGP 2 - Community Engagement
The Community Engagement Principle outlines what you need to know about community engagement including implications, challenges and ideas on achieving good practice.
Across the three tiers of government there has been a focus on community engagement with the provision of support and advice for members. To date, there have been some community engagement successes. Unfortunately, however, these are overshadowed by some less than successful ventures which have left the
community feeling a little jaded. This makes it even more important that we get our community engagement ventures right in the future.
