Research Grants and Scholarships
As part of our commitment to driving professionalism in public sector management,
IPAA Queensland offers research scholarships and grants.
In undertaking and supporting research, IPAA Queensland
partners with universities, government departments and other organisations which
similarly recognise the importance of research in improving public practice.
Research scholarships
IPAA Queensland partners with universities to co-sponsor
relevant and practical research undertaken by Higher Research Degree students (Masters
or PhD) within the field of public management.
Currently, IPAA Queensland is partnered with the Queensland
University of Technology to co-fund research into graduate attraction and retention
within the Queensland public sector.
This is a topical issue which reviews why graduates choose public sector employment,
how they experience the transition from study to working in the public sector and
what would encourage them to stay in the sector.
Scholarships are offered on an ad-hoc basis and there are no scholarships available
at this time. Please email research@qld.ipaa.org.au to find out when the next scholarship
round will be offered.
Research grants
IPAA Queensland offers research grants, up to the value
of $5,000, to those undertaking interesting and cutting-edge research within the
public sector realm. Research grants are one-off payments designed to assist with
the costs associated with research. To find out how to apply for a research grant

Research scholarship and grant topics
As part of IPAA Queensland’s commitment to providing
relevant research, grants and scholarships are for research which aligns with IPAA Queensland’s priority topics. These are:
- Workforce issues
- Inter and intra governmental collaboration
- Emergent short and long term ‘big ticket’ items
- Developing better practice through innovative perspectives
- Getting to the ‘heart’ of the issue – affirming the public sector’s
role in society.
