International Speaker Events

Our International Speaker Series has earned a reputation as a high quality event
series featuring the world’s best and brightest business leaders and management
experts. Kicking off in 2006 with best selling author and Top 50 thinker Malcolm
Gladwell, the series has gone on to feature high profile speakers such
as:

2009 Inaugural Excellence Awards
- Prestigious event to celebrate Queensland’s 150th anniversary
- Opportunity to award and meet promising and talented public sector professionals
- Opportunity to sponsor, judge and present an award
In 2009 IPAA Queensland will hold its inaugural Excellence
Awards. The awards ceremony will both celebrate the last 150 years of public administration
in Queensland and recognise excellence amongst individuals rather than teams or
departments.
There is an opportunity for organisation’s to sponsor their own Excellence
Award, be involved in the selection process, award the chosen individual, and engage
with a number of public sector professionals at the awards night. Hosted by the
IPAA Queensland President and with invited
VIP guests, this event provides a unique opportunity for prestige brand
positioning.
2009 IQ Seminar Series (individual events)
- 250+ attendees
- High profile speakers and hottest public sector topics
- Attracts senior staff and decision makers
Focusing on quality rather than quantity, this event series profiles the ‘hot
issues’ affecting the public sector, bursting with highly relevant information
and high profile speakers.
Launched in 2008, the first event explored the issue of cooperative federalism and
featured Federal Treasurer Hon. Wayne Swan MP and State Treasurer
Hon. Andrew Fraser MP. A sell out, the event drew a wide media presence
with both local and national media in attendance.
2009 Inner Circle Women’s Series
- 120+ attendees
- Focus on mentoring, networking and resilience
- High profile female speakers with a targeted female audience
The Inner Circle Women’s Series provides a forum for women from all levels
of their career to get together and share the experiences of other successful women
with a focus on mentoring, networking and resilience. The series has featured a
great range of inspirational and well-known successful women, including:
- Former Chief Magistrate of Queensland Di Fingleton
- Former Director-General Equity & Fair Trading, Aboriginal & Torres Strait
Islander Policy and Development & Arts Margaret O’Donnell
- Queensland Ambulance Services most senior female manager Leanne Stevens
- Minister for Child Safety Hon Desley Boyle MP
- Breast cancer survivor and lawyer Kalista Gill
This event series provides an opportunity to strategically target a female audience
with an interest in both professional and personal development.
2009 Member’s Events
- 60 – 120 attendees (depending on event type)
- Interactive networking format with IPAA Queensland’s
members
- Good mix of young professionals and senior staff
Member’s events of the Institute give our members and their guests an opportunity
to network with friends and colleagues in a relaxed atmosphere, often with a guest
speaker.
The events consist of an AGM and a member’s and
friends evening with additional events held on an ad-hoc basis to act upon speaker
opportunities or to highlight the achievements of a member. This series provides
a low-cost option for interactive exposure or can be added to another package to
boost brand exposure.
2009 Young Professionals program (individual events)
- Targeted audience of future leaders
- Brand exposure across a complete suite of tailored events
- Association with youth market (under 35’s)
The Young Professionals Special Interest Group (SIG) comprises
of a suite of events run for young people by young people. The overarching theme
of their 2009 program is Building Tomorrow’s Leaders Today which centers around
the themes of leadership, attraction and retention of young people in the public
sector and building a successful public sector career.
Included in the 2009 program is:
- Annual Young Professionals’ CEO Breakfast
- After 5 event, personal and professional development based, 40+ attendees
- Tomorrow’s Leaders Lunch, forum for tomorrow’s leaders to hear from
the leaders of today, 40+ attendees
An alternative to partnering on these individual events is to be sole partner on
all three key events providing prime exposure to a youth market for a whole year,
and allowing a relationship to be built between you and the young professionals
group.
Additional opportunities
In addition to the above activities IPAA Queensland recognises
there are a number of opportunities to work together on projects that may be of
benefit to both parties. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Partnering on exclusive events with speakers (ie: CEO
dinner with an available high profile speaker)
- Partnering on identifying emerging trends/hot topics for IPAA
Queensland to use in planning events or articles for the quarterly magazine, the
Public Interest
- Partnering on ad-hoc event opportunities such as a regional roadshows or other similar
opportunities as they may arise
- The opportunity to provide articles/comments for the quarterly magazine, the Public
Interest
- Discounted or free tickets to certain IPAA Queensland
events
- Partnering on presenting or hosting sessions for any of IPAA
Queensland’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
- Invitations to exclusive IPAA Queensland lunches/dinners
with influential stakeholders including DGs, international guests, etc.
