The 2011 IPAA Queensland Public Sector Excellence Awards , which recognises excellence and best practise across the public sector, has attracted nominations from all over Queensland. After an extensive shortlisting process, the nominees in each category have been narrowed down to the cream of the crop. The calibre and scope of the nominations was simply outstanding with projects exemplifying innovation, best practise and creativity.
The institute were thrilled to see so many amazing people and projects making a difference to their local communities and Queensland Public sector by taking initiative and engaging and collaborating effectively with their clients.

Individual Categories
Patron’s Award for Excellence in the Public Sector
Is the highest accolade in public administration in Queensland awarded to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the State.
WINNER: Sir Leo Hielsher
Public Sector Professional of the Year
Awarded to a public sector professional who has made a difference to the public sector through demonstrating best practice and fostering other public sector professionals.
Regional Queensland Leader of the Year
Awarded to a regional Queenslander who has made a difference to their local community through demonstrating best practice and fostering other regional employees.

Best Practice in Local Government

We have a new award category to recognise the special contribution the Public Sector has made to Queensland during the recent flood and cyclone disasters. The unique Special Recognition Award highlights the spirit and professionalism of Queensland’s public administrators and their community focussed values.
